If you are not satisfied with the way your elected leaders are doing things, realize that the power to make things right resides in you. In his book “A More Perfect Union; What We the People Can Do to Reclaim Our Constitutional Liberties”, Dr. Ben Carson points out that our constitution empowers we the people, not the elitists, who rule from their Ivory Tower, to govern the land.
Some politicians in Bucks County, PA don’t champion empowering the people to take responsibility and make their own decisions. On example: A few years back, I emailed Bucks County Commissioner Diane Marseglia with my idea to use county public land to create housing for the homeless. I proposed building a place, like that of Dignity Village in Oregon, using homeless people and volunteers. Like Dignity Village, https://dignityvillage.org/ there would be rules. The homeless could manage the place as well as build it. There could be responsible leaders and a liaison, maybe a Bucks County Ranger, to work with the leaders.
In southern Bucks County, there have been unofficial leaders, who were homeless, who worked things out to make it better for the homeless and the community. There were, of course, some problems. Some homeless individuals acted irresponsibly by doing things like keeping tents up around the Veterans’ Memorial and the nearby District Justice building at the Government Service Center in Levittown. There were also individuals who were drunk, drugged and disorderly on occasion. Some people trashed out places, and there was drug use. On at least one occasion, one or two people who overdosed had to be dragged out of the woods by the Rescue Squad. Some homeless individuals just wanted to do what they wanted to do, regardless how they affected others!
Having an official homeless village would foster more law and order, as individual problem people will be held accountable for their behavior. If they keep causing problems, they will get kicked out!
Commissioner Marseglia responded that creating a homeless village would be too much of a liability and that it would not be helpful to the homeless. Quote “It just creates more space for them to avoid going to Housing Link and getting the referral they need, to start getting sober/clean, on medication, in therapy, signed up for assistance or some type of work, and a solid roof over their head.”
I agree that people need a roof over their head, but there is at least a one to two year wait to get housing through the Bucks government. What do people do in the meantime – stay in motels, which are expensive? Or camp out in the woods, in cars, and in the streets?
My plan would create more space and they would avoid going to Housing Link? To quote President Ronald Regan, “Well there you go again.” Marseglia thinks that homeless people can’t do things themselves! The government elites have to take charge of our concerns.
In my book, “There Are Homeless in Bucks County: A Journey with The Homeless”, I address the underlying world views that affect the homeless. https://www.amazon.com/There-Are-Homeless-Buck-County/dp/172865209X/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_1?keywords=there%20are%20homeless%20in%20bucks%20county&qid=1555953133&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmrnull&fbclid=IwAR3aZjxAIaNsBgqDuQOg1FdTQ3fqtanieKU4ZV_6POWqn5w8Gz80_C9Jn5Q
I just got an email from Tea Party Patriots Action that spoke about how the elites think they can undermine the will of the people (and the rule of law) by impeaching President Trump just because they can’t have their way. The message:
From Clarice Feldman at American Thinker1:
“The real issue that ought to either-or-both frighten and enrage any honest American is that the ‘Intelligence Community’ truly does now consider itself a law unto itself and has arrogated the power to actually decide who is a suitable president and who will be allowed to occupy the White House… They have, make no mistake, declared war on self-governance, unless we pick someone they approve of which is quite obviously not self-governance.”
Writes Jenny Beth Martin, author of the email: “Ms. Feldman is exactly right. Every attempt to smear, attack, frame, and impeach President Trump is rooted in the sick arrogance of nameless, faceless bureaucrats who have determined that it is their right to rule the country.”
In his book. Dr. Carson admonishes Americans to know their constitution and educate themselves on the issues and the people running for office. That way, we will have a better chance of having a better life for us and our posterity. We need to preserve our God blessed heritage! Preceding each chapter is a Bible verse.
Political signs litter the landscape in southern Bucks County. Don’t be taken in by the welcome grin of slick campaign slogans, but learn what the candidates stand for, check their record and verify that their rhetoric matches what they do. In other words, do they practice what they preach! Think before you vote! Remember, we are in charge, so vote responsibly!
