Selling The Snake Oil!

A carbon tax bill, called “market based” has reared its ugly head again, proposed by Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick and another Republican congressman to fund building roads, bridges and energy.

The bogus carbon tax bill is not based in the free market. It is based on the junk science that says that carbon dioxide is overheating the earth and that polar bears will drown as the sea gets higher.  Greenpeace co-founder and former Greenpeace president debunks this pseudo-science:

Supporters of the carbon tax bill tout that it will strengthen efforts to severely reduce carbon dioxide, a gas we need to grow plants and produce more food. The only thing this bill has to do with the market is that it does business with snake oil salesmen!

Unfounded, unproven alternative energy initiatives cripple the economy. They are underwritten by the government, using tax money to fund this pipe dream. A good example of this is Solyndra, Barry’s boondoggle: The manufacturer of advanced solar panels received a $535 million loan guarantee to build a factory outside of San Francisco.

Solyndra went bankrupt in 2011 amid falling prices for solar panels, and has since served as the poster child for government policy gone bad.

Its assets were being auctioned off, and DOE is not expected to recover any meaningful amount of money.

The executives at Solyndra, who contributed to BO’s presidential campaign, walked away with golden parachutes, while we got the shaft.

We all suffer when the economy suffers, especially the homeless. The homeless are the canary in the mine, an early warning for an environment that can no longer sustain life.

The government blocks energy production that works, just as Bucks County government blocks plans to create more shelter for the homeless. The free market has provided clean, affordable energy and has created legitimate jobs, not bogus energy jobs that are artificially propped up by the government.

Taxing people for carbon emissions is counterproductive.  Why not start taxing human beings for emitting carbon dioxide? As the Beatles sang, Politicians want to tax just about everything!

We need carbon dioxide, not snake oil from politicians and the media!

Don’t Be A Luddy Duddy

“Don’t be a luddy-duddy! Don’t be a mooncalf! Don’t be a jabbernowl! You’re not those, are you?”  -asked Egbert Souse’ (W.C. Fields) in The Bank Dick when he tried to get Og to pilfer $500 from the bank in order to invest in a questionable mining company.

There they go again, with the same kind of logic as Ebert Souse’ to convince people to quash Donald Trump’s picks for cabinet. I got another email again today, asking me to drink the Kool-aide:

SIGN TODAY: Block Trump’s cabinet of Big Oil insiders, climate deniers, and corporate shills »

“Jeff — Donald Trump is assembling a cabinet of greedy corporate shills like ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson, climate denier Scott Pruitt, and anti-civil rights Senator Jeff Sessions. It’s no wonder people are calling it a #RiggedCabinet.

This cabinet is historic in its ties to Big Polluters and massive corporations as well as the amount of lasting damage they can do to our environment.

But each of Trump’s nominations needs to make it through a Senate confirmation hearing with at least 51 votes. The path to stopping them is narrow, tough, and demands perseverance, but it’s there. LCV and a broad coalition of progressive allies are joining a campaign to stop these dangerous picks from being confirmed. Will you join us?

Donald Trump paved his path to the White House by ignoring real problems like climate change and threatening his opponents and communities of color, and his cabinet nominations are no different:”

And the email goes on, in the vein of Ebert Souse’ (W.C. Fields).

Greedy corporate shills? Oh yea, and how about the Clinton Foundation’s greed, giving only ten percent of the donations to charity and pocketing 90 percent?

Here’s a WikiLeaks investigation:

  • And how about President BO wanting a bigger pension when that horsefly finally leaves the White House?
  • How about Solyndra, where BO pilfered $535 million from the taxpayers and gave it to his campaign contributors for a scheme as risky as the mining company Ebert Souse’ took from the bank to invest in. Golden parachutes for them; the shaft for us.
  • How about PA Governor Big Bad Wolf banning drilling on state land, which would have helped the economy, provided jobs, and helped fill the tax coffers?
  • How about all the expensive trips the Oh Bla Blas took at our expense?

This is just the tip of the iceberg!

Wouldn’t you call this greed? Unless, like former President Slick Willy Clinton, you struggle with what “is” is.

And I don’t deny climate. Yes, climate is a fact, but we can’t change it. As Professor Walter E Williams once said, the environmentalist wackos who champion a theory such as human caused global warming are so arrogant that they probably think that if they all jump up and down at the same time they can change the axis of the earth!

And how about something being rigged? Even in their own party, which the League of Conservation Voters evidently support, the Dems rigged the primary in favor of Shrillery! There is no honor among socialist-thieves!

These appeals to stop The Donald from filling his cabinet with level headed people who will serve us just make me laugh, just as does the Ebert Souse’/Og scene in The Bank Dick.

As Rush Limbaugh said, when liberals are in charge, they are dangerous. When they are not, they are just funny!

“Folly is joy to him who lacks sense, But a man of understanding walks straight.”

-Proverbs 15:21

Environmentalists and The Homeless

I got an email this morning from the League of Conservation Voters beseeching me to tell the Rascally Republicans to stop in the name of the environment to nix The Donald’s picks for his cabinet. They claim that it’s the most anti-environment in history!

So if they are against the junk science of the pseudo-environmentalists then they are putting clean air and water, our forests and other resources in jeopardy? Really?

We have witnessed the results of hair brained schemes from alternative energy. Take, for instance, Solyndra, Barry’s boondoggleThe manufacturer of advanced solar panels received a $535 million loan guarantee to build a factory outside of San Francisco.

The agenda of the anti-Trump so called environmentalist, Captain Planet types whose raison d’ e’tre is to save the earth from us mortals has no basis in fact, as in the case, for example, of Solyndra.

A vibrant economy and a healthy environment go hand in hand. In China, the air is filthy. In fact, recently the government passed out masks. After the fall of the Soviet Union, a lot of toxic waste was found. In our mostly capitalistic economy, the environment is much cleaner than socialistic, central planned economies. In a free market economy, consumer demand can be better realized, hence less waste and pollution.

Free market driven energy policies are the key to providing clean energy that everyone can afford.

President Trump will not wage war on coal and other traditional energy sources, which puts people out of work and hurts the economy. When people have money, they can afford to buy the tools to keep their energy sources running clean and efficient.

When the economy suffers, so do we. The people who suffer the most is the homeless. In fact, a bad economy exacerbates homelessness. That $535 million squandered on Solyndra. It could have been put to better use.

Groups such as the League of Conservation Voters are not the only ones attacking windmills. There have been reports of birds getting caught in windmills.

The Donald’s pick to head the EPA will reverse years of quixotic abuse. No longer will people be charged with destroying wetlands for filling in a puddle, which environmentalist wackos say deprive birds of a water stop during migration.

When the government sticks its nose into our business, including socially engineering resource management, it hurts the average person, particularly the poor and the homeless. The free market fosters jobs and innovation, where what works best and efficiently is held to market standards. Innovation allows us to built a better mousetrap – including energy production that is affordable and clean, and not artificially propped up and usually failing, as was the case with Solyndra.

The New Raw Deal, a wrong path to which we were heading, brought nothing but misery, poverty and increased homelessness. It’s no wonder we find so many homeless in Bucks County, PA. A report from the Fraser Institute showed that Pennsylvania did not do well on limiting taxes and spending.

“There’s a connection between high government spending and slower economic growth,” Elizabeth Stelle, director of policy analysis for the Harrisburg-based Commonwealth Foundation, told “If we want a vibrant economy, if we want people to be able to find jobs, if we want people to prosper, then this study shows we need to reduce government spending and we need to have a better tax structure.”

Except for things such as roads, security and courts, we need to keep the government out of our nation’s business, such as energy policy. Give the free market a chance to work.

Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

God gave us dominion over the earth. It’s our responsibility to be good stewards of the earth. Contrary to what the Chicken Little’s think, Trump’s picks for cabinet will foster good stewardship of the earth while providing food and shelter for more people.

Christian Socialism?

There is a school of thought that socialism could work if it were driven by Christian principles. I disagree.

Christian socialism started becoming a major movement in England in the 1960s. The movement ties capitalism with idolatry and greed. Many years ago, a pastor told me that Karl Marx, author of the Communist Manifesto, believed that capitalism was the source of greed. He said that Marx was wrong; sinful human nature is what causes greed.

The terms “Christian” and “Socialism” are mutually exclusive. The legal term “Expressio Unius Est Exclusio Alterius” (the expression of one thing is the exclusion of the other) applies here.

God tells Christians to feed the poor (and clothe and shelter them). But this isn’t best done through socialism, even when society has a Christian consensus. Taxing citizens, the government controlling the means of production and redistributing wealth – the philosophy of Thomas Hobbes’ Leviathan, doesn’t create as many goods and services as does free market capitalism.

Bill Gates, not a government program, was able to lower the price of computers, improve them, and make them so user friendly that someone as technically retarded as I can use them.

A problem with central planning (socialism) is that this system is out of touch with consumer needs. A corollary problem is that, as the government controls the means of production under socialism, it can control what you believe – it’s inimical to religious freedom. It could also hold up, or even stop, material it doesn’t like, under the influence of special interests, such as Christian movies.

I’m reading John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress, an allegory of the soul, the Christian walk. Mr. Bunyan was thrown in jail because he was a non conformist – he didn’t fall in lock step with the official government church of England. Not allowing religious freedom is why, to use an Archie Bunker quip, we kicked England out of this country.

With more wealth to go around, there is more for the poor. There is a greater harvest, and as was the case in Leviticus, there was sufficient grain on the margins of the fields for the poor. “And when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap your field right up to its edge, nor shall you gather the gleanings after your harvest. You shall leave them for the poor and for the sojourner: I am the Lord your God.”  — Leviticus 23:22

Today in Bucks County, PA, churches and individuals have been feeding and clothing the poor. Caring Christians not only feed and clothe the homeless, but they minister them, addressing their spiritual/emotional needs.

Shortly after BO was elected, Pastor Rick Warren said that private funds for the needy has dwindled because of all the taxes. After the government extorts citizens’ money, they don’t have as great a harvest to share. Sure, you might say, under a Christian consensus politicians won’t squander tax money like the Skinny Socialist did with Solyndra.

But, as John Calvin believed, because of the total depravity of man, government and churches shouldn’t put their power centrally.  That is,  you shouldn’t put all your eggheads in one basket. Our government’s separation of powers is based on the Presbyterian model of forming presbyteries, where if a church is straying from God’s Word, an independent presbytery can call the wayward church out.

Likewise, Martin Luther started a practice where anybody, from any walk of life, can challenge the clergy by pointing to scripture. The pastor at the church I attend encourages churchgoers to study the Bible and be accountable.   By the way, a Lutheran is just an unfinished Presbyterian.

Free market capitalism allows for free choice. School choice is so called because it lets parents, rather than school districts, choose what’s best for your children. It’s your money. Under school choice, the money that’s put into the pot lets you use your taxes as you best see fit.

The economic free market and the free market of ideas, for example, that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…”, gives us the freedom to engage in the unfettered exchange of ideas in the search for the truth.

To bad a John Bunyan didn’t have those rights. Instead, a judge, whom he fictionalized in Pilgrims Progress as Judge Hategood, and his kangaroo court abridged this godly man’s rights.

Giving socialism a Christian name and endorsement does not change the outcome of a system that has historically brought misery on society. Woodrow Wilson, for example, a progressive (progressing to complete socialism) whose father was a pastor, was a dictator who threw anybody In jail who protested against WWI. He was as bad for society as was progressive President LBJ.

In the 70’s, evangelist Francis Schaeffer said that freedom in this country has been abused. To keep order in society, Dr. Schaeffer said, one of two things will have to happen. Either we will have to have a police state to control people from the outside, or we will have to have a Reformed Christian consensus to govern people from the inside.

I prefer the latter. It’s not big government that makes a society great; it’s personal responsibility and achievement.

The Pope and BO Perfect Dysfunctionality caused global warming is the product of recycled Marxism mixed with junk science.

As W.C. Fields used to say “Ah yes, seems we’ve been here before.”

The before was the time of Galileo, when the Catholic church went against scientific truth and created its own reality. They said the earth was the center of the universe and angels pushed the sun around us.  Like today’s pseudo environmentalists, who push human caused global warming, the elitists said it was so just because they said so, and threatened anyone, in Stalinist style, who tried to prove otherwise.

Galileo Galilei was tried and convicted in the kangaroo court known as the Roman Catholic Inquisition in 1633 for saying the sun was the center of the universe, which today is universally accepted.

It makes no difference what kind of story people make up to fight the scientific truth, the results are the same.  The economy gets worse, people can’t get food, shelter and medicines they need, etc.

Lately, Pope Francis championed human caused global warming.  On many issues, ones that deeply affect people, the Pope and BO (President Barry Obama) are two sh**birds of a feather.

These birds are in league with the pseudo-environmentalists, aka watermelon environmentalists (green on the outside, red on the inside).  BO has been legislating under the influence (LUI) of these elitist kooks.  The Jesuits, which Pope Francis is aligned with, historically have had a Marxist bent.

What does this mean to us?

BO, the UN and the radical Greens have been unsuccessful in their attempts to bring the US and the rest of the world into a binding international climate agreement.  Now that they have the blessings of the Pope, and those who don’t question his authority, they have a chance of screwing us with the Paris climate scam.

This is nothing new for the Catholic church, with the oldie but goody Sale of Indulgences, where it sheared the sheep by scaring them.  It said that if they didn’t pay protection money, they’d go to hell. Likewise with BO and the pseudo-environmentalists, for whom Halloween is everyday, they spook us. They tell us that baby seals will drown as the sea gets higher because of global warming. We need additional taxes and regulations for this and so that in the desert sun our skin won’t turn red, because the sky is falling as a result of ozone depletion from CFCs.

It’s trick or treat.  In other words, quid pro quo.

Solyndra, Barry’s boondoggleThe manufacturer of advanced solar panels received a $535 million loan guarantee to build a factory outside of San Francisco.

The radical Green agenda is not based on sound scientific evidence but on boogie man scare tactics.  If BO was honest, he’d get up and sing “I’m your boogie man, that’s what I am…”  KC and the Sunshine Band - I'm your Boogie Man (Full version)

The regulations that Green agenda precipitates will cripple businesses and jobs and, like FDR’s New Raw Deal, will hurt everyday people, especially the poor and homeless, the canary in the mine that is an early warning sign for viability.

Meanwhile the lame stream media continues to peddle their Kool-aide through its conduit for the Plutocracy. They will present their tripe as an Angel of Light.  Unlike Brutus in the 1980 movie Popeye, they will not be straightforward and shout out “I’m mean, I’m mean, I’m mean, I’m mean.”

When you pierce the veil — that curtain behind which a man impersonating a wizard is found, you can see that all the hoopla about being Green and social justice is actually a very destructive idea.

Let’s seek truth, justice, and the American way!

“You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. ”  John 8:32.
